Shani Greene-Dowdell
I am a wife, mother, sister, lover, friend, avid reader and the author of Keepin' It Tight. I was born and raised in Tuskegee, a predominately black small town rich with southern history. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a country girl at heart. Dirt roads, plum trees, black berry bushes = a beautiful thing. I can be quoted often saying, "give me my country roads any day!" I have always been fascinated with creative writing and would rack my brain for hours on end trying to come up with plays and poetry in grade school, in which the creative flow was often not forthcoming. In adulthood, I never really considered myself a writer per se, but more of a go-getter in general. I had children to raise and, at the same time, degrees to chase!

I attended Troy State University at Montgomery and Southern Union Community College in Opelika, Alabama with the goal of becoming a nurse, but motherhood sidetracked me early on. In 1999, I switched my career path from nursing to medical transcription with the goal of one day being able to work at home. As a young mother, I took pride and joy in seeing my tiny reflection in my two daughters and son. Now as a more seasoned parent with a teenage daughter and two other “babies” on her heels I wonder where did the years ago?

In 2005, my best friend and I were working late and discussing a great story line that we knew would make a great novel (Secrets of a Kept Woman, coming late 2008), and under a challange to make our idea become a reality, I set out to pen my first novel. That along with the determination to change the dynamics of my career, I started writing Keepin' It Tight and haven't put the pen down since. Keepin' It Tight was released May 28, 2007 through the independent publisher Lulu.com. It is available on amazon.com, shanibooks.com, and lulu.com, and may be special ordered anywhere books are sold. If you like love storylines that tug at your heartstrings or if you enjoy chick lit Keepin' It Tight will not disappoint. Find out what happens when a woman's search for love is confronted by another woman's quest to tear it down.

Also, the mind-blowing erotic anthology ---> Mocha Chocolate: Taste A Piece of Ecstasy filled with many up and coming talented authors is COMING March 2008!

Brandy D. Johnson

I was born and raised in a city where the streets will make or break you, Los Angeles California. I attended Locke High School and LA South West Community College to pursue my career in Business Management. My Children’s Father and I ran a successful party supply business called Bump and Jump for many years. But after our bad break up and me being caught up in hood activity I slowly began to realize I had to change and make a better life for my children and me.

So in 2006 we moved to Arizona. I never thought I would actually find the time to complete a whole manuscript because my passion was in my party supply business. But after moving to Arizona I completed my first manuscript “Ghetto Diva” (that is expected to be released February 2008) and that was when I realized my talent and passion was for writing. I am currently working on my second novel titled Until Death. So be on the look out for Urban Fiction Novels from Brandy Johnson.

Shon Majette

She is the new literary voice of Curvy Lit, for all women everywhere who wear real sizes and don't care what anybody thinks about their size.  She is a strong advocate for the Big Gurl in a world where society forces plus-sized women to think that they are not beautiful.

It is her hope that she can empower her fellow sisters and their supporters to do something positive about the way that women of size are displayed in society and mainstream fiction.  Her novels feature plus-sized heroines and give the audience a view into the life and times of curvy love.  Her company Big Bone Publishing serves as the catalyst of this mission and hopes to reach young women to help them to empower themselves and through self love—validate how beautiful they are.

As a child her imagination helped her to deal with being the only girl of three children.  She went on to live in Mons, Belgium as an Army brat and returned to the states to attend Roper Jr. High and The Duke Ellington School of the Arts.  An avid reader for years she decided in 2000 that she too could be an author.

She lives in the Washington, DC area with her family and friends.
